What Causes Abdominal Cramps And Tenderness In The Breasts?

I have abdominal cramping, blue veins on my breasts and tenderness in my breasts. I switched from Alesse to Marvelon this month. I took the last active pill in the pack of alesse and began taking marvelon the next day. I had sex without another back up mehtod 8 days later. I have never missed a pill. could I be pregnant?

Hi,

Alesse contains 'levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol' as ingredients and is combined oral contraceptive pill. Marvelon contain 'ethinylestradiol and desogestrel' as ingredients, which is also a combined oral contraceptive pill.Both pills are hormonal preparations containing estrogen and progestin. Since you have not missed the intake of pill the protection should have been maintained.

However, it is essential to use additional means of protection like use of condoms and spermicides when you change the contraceptive pills. Symptoms you are experiencing like tenderness in breasts and abdominal cramps could be due to hormonal changes taking place due to change in the medication. However, if you have delay in getting periods for more than a week, kindly take Urine Pregnancy Test and seek medical attention promptly.
