What Causes Abdominal Cramps Inspite Of Taking Postinor After Having Unsafe Sex?

Hi..I had unprotected sex and my partner released in me and I took postinor 2 an hour later and after a few hours I m having cramps at my lower abdomen as if I was on my period but it s not past 12 hours so I haven t taken the 2nd pill..what s wrong?

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
What you have done is the right thing to prevent unwanted pregnancy by taking Postinor 2 an hour after having unprotected intercourse.
The reason why you could be having abdominal cramps could be due to side effect of the drug itself.
Despite having abdominal cramps, you need to take the second dose for the pill to be effective in preventing pregnancy.
The abdominal cramps may gradually subside on its own or you may take symptomatic treatment analgesic- antispasmodic medication like Mefenamic Acid and Dicyclomine combination.
In case the abdominal pain worsens despite taking measures or you don't get your periods within 3 weeks from the day you have taken the last pill, you need to seek medical attention immediately.
