What Causes Abdominal Cramps On The Right Side?

My 9 yr old son has had a stomach cramp all day. It is on the lower right side right above the pelvis. He does not have a fever or any other pains. Yesterday he had an allergic reaction to something used to clean the wrestling mats at school. He broke out in Hives all over his body. After the hives went away, his body remained red for several hours. Not sure if it is linked.
