What Causes Abdominal Discomfort After Eating Raw Fish?

Please help. I ate sashimi (raw fish) 11 days ago and by that evening began to experience a great deal of pain/discomfort in my upper and lower abdomen. The pain has come and gone since, but occurs at least a few times a day every day. Bowel movements coincide with intense abdominal cramping/pain. I was purging in an attempt to lose weight for several weeks prior to this occurring - have stopped since this began. Eating foods will sometimes calm the discomfort, but then often trigger a delayed pain/cramp episode. What can I do?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is due to indigestion.

We have to rule out other causes like gastroenteritis also.

If symptoms persist you can consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
