What Causes Abdominal Discomfort And Throwing Up?

Saturday my mum was admitted to the Hospital with Appendicitis, with very little symptoms other than the stomach pain and churning. I visited her yesterday, I just woke up today feeling stomach and chest churning and ropey, had a small glass of water and threw up. My stomach is churning. I m definitely not pregnant, the only food that could have itritated was yoghurt a week out of date, but it tasted fine.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Appendicitis infection is not transmitted from one person to the next so it is not likely that your symptoms are related to this diagnosis.

It is possible that it maybe another infection of the gastrointestinal tract either viral or bacterial.
Vomiting and/or diarrhea is most often related to acute gastroenteritis.

In most cases, it resolves within a few days.

You would need to hold off solid food till there is a 4 hour window with no symptoms.
When this time period occurs start a small amount of dry solid food eg biscuits, bread.

Medications such as peptobismol or dramamine would help with the vomiting.

I hope this helps
