Hello,
* It is the gastric upset with the consumption of Jakafi used for
myelofibrosis, responsible for abdomen distension.
* I quote here following guidelines for your best recovery
- Take an antacid or
proton pump inhibitor as
omeprazole with sips of water on an empty stomach.
- Consume Jakafi after meals with milk.
- Manage to have soft, regular bowel evacuations with high fiber diet and bulk-forming laxative as per the need.
- Remain ambulatory and have exercises of allowable range as per the allowance via myelofibrosis issue.
-
Steroid medications if along with the same, must be discussed with the treating physician to discontinue or adjust the dosage.
- Control body weight, blood sugar and
cholesterol levels.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
