What Causes Abdominal Distention And Bloating, Hip And Rib Pressure With Flatulence?

LAST NITE I HAD A SEVERE CASE OF GAS. MY ENTIRE ABDOMINE WAS DISTENDED, I HAD A SENSATION OF SOMETING PRESSING UP UNDER MY RIGHT HIP (IN THE FRONT) AND ALSO UNDER MY BOTTOM RIGHT RIB AND AT THE BOTTOM OF MY BREAST PLATE HAD TROUBLE TAKING A DEEP BREATH. ALSO HAD A KNOTTED, ALMOST LIKE A SUCKING-IN FEELING JUST RIGHT OF MY BELLY BUTTON. YOU COULD ACTUALLY SEE A DENTED PLACE THERE. ALSO FELT ROLLING WAVES OF PINS AND NEEDLE THROUGH OUT MY STOMACHE.
MY QUESTION IS: SOME OF THESE 'WAVES' FELT LIKE THEY WERE COMING UP FROM MY BACK AND OVER MY RIGHT SIDE DOWN INTO MY STOMACHE AND MY HUSBAND SAID HE COULD ACTUALLLY SEE SMALL WORM LIKE THINGS UNDER THE SKIN TRAVELING WITH THE WAVES AND DOWN INTO THE SUNKEN IN SPOT. ALSO A BUBBLING, UNDER THE SKIN, KINDA LIKE YOU SEE IN A METHANE VENT ON THE OCEAN FLOOR. THE BLOATING WOULD GO DOWN AND THEN YOU COULD SEE POCKETS START TO FORM UP AGAIN, STARTING UNDER MY RIB AND BREAST PLATE. WHAT IS THAT AND HOW IS THAT CAUSED? IS THAT NORMAL?

Hi ! Good evening.I am Dr Shareef answering your query.

Even though a clinical assessment is essential for a diagnosis of your condition, from the history it seems to be related to the inflammation of the gall bladder with calculi in it, or could be due to the visible peristalsis of the distended intestines due to any kind of obstructive pathology lower down. If I were your doctor, I would go for a physical examination of your wife's abdomen followed by some blood test like a CBC, blood sugar, LFT, serum amylase and lipase, and an ultrasound of the abdomen to know the status of the gall bladder, pancreas and to rule out a gall stone disease. Further management would depend on the clinical result and reports of the related investigations. Till then , you could go for an anti spasmodic and a proton pump inhibitor drug for a symptomatic relief.
