Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My stomach is distended, uncomfortable with a feeling of fullness that does not go away. Mild pain similar to stomach cramps. I just finished a dose of prednisone for sciatica nerve pain. Could this and the taking of Aleve be causing a type of gastritis ? Just a general feeling ill and tired.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Aleve is an anti-inflammatory medicine that can irritate stomach and might cause gastritis. The distended stomach with a feeling of fullness that does not go away is due to stomach problems.
Stop taking Aleve or any other anti-inflammatory medicine and report this to the doctor who prescribed to you. OTC PPIs should be started (e.g. Omeprazole) with antacids after eating. I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Regards, Dr. Albana Sejdini
