What Causes Abdominal Pain Above The Navel?

I woke up in the wee hours of Sunday....experiencing a cramping sensation and just thought it was an indication of an oncoming bowel movement...thought it could wait til the sun came up....I went back to sleep and got up an hour or so later for my morning cup of tea...an hour or so later, I did have a bowel movement which temporarily relieved the discomfort, but not too long after the cramping came back and has been with me for the last two days. The pain seems to be above my belly button area and is not constant, but my movement seems to affect it. I am a power walker, and today I tried my usual activity, but had to return home after 30 minutes....I experienced abdominal pain for most of the walk. I have not had much of an appetite, but have kind of forced myself to eat as I feel nauseous if I don t eat, even on a good day...

Hi,

It looks you got some gut infection. Bowel pains ate common mostly because of a bad food or gas, however, if it's for the last 2 days then we need to consider some infection like giardiasis or amoebiasis which can cause cramps. We generally treat them with few days course of metronidazole. So that would one idea to give a trial. However, you may see your doctor for proper work up ie stool testing and management accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
