What Causes Abdominal Pain After Eating With Breathing Difficulty?
hi, my 16 yo son is having abdominal pain in the left and right lower quadrants. this usually occurs after eating and last for 3-5 minutes. he says its hard for him to breathe while this is happening and is very painful. he now states the pain is moving up into his chest area.
Hello, I had gone through your query and understand your concern.
Short answer: Better to consult a doctor
Detailed answer : Thank you for asking.
Pain in abdomen after having food has many causes. When he breaths it increases the pressure inside abdomen which may be disturbing an intra abdominal organ. This causes increase in pain while breathing. It is suggestive of a possible inflammatory condition inside his abdomen. It is also possible that he may be having food related allergy which needs to be evaluated. In this case it is better to get an ultrasound abdomen and some blood investigations. My suggestion is to consult a Gastro-enterologist who will help you with further management.
Hope this helps.
If you have any other I'll be happy to help.
Regards, Dr.Prathap Kumar
