I have beta thalassemia minor and usually run a hb of 8.5-10. Recent blood work has revealed high ferritin level of 250. I have been a normally healthy female. I had a pdm and bso in 2010, due to brca 2 positive gene. I have had nothing but abd pain, fullness feeling in the abd and chronic inflammation in joints and abd. Also, I have elevated triglycerides and cholesterol.. another genetic defect. Is the test for ferritin something to be concerned about?
