What Causes Abdominal Pain Along With Diarrhoea And Vomiting In A Child?
my son was sent home from school yesterday with vomiting. today he has stomach pain and diaareha. no fever. have tried everything but he is still in pain. what could be causing this and what can I do? his primary care doctor has no openings to see him today
Vomiting, diarrhea and stomach pain are suggestive for viral gastroenteritis. I advise to: - keep him well hydrated, give plenty of water with ORS - give OTC probiotics to normalize his altered intestinal flora - give OTC tasectan or pepto bismol to stop diarrhea - give light meals (banana, rice soup, apple sauce, toast, yogurt) - give pain-killers to ease the pain and reduce fever
If no improvement, should send to ER as he might need intravenous perfusion and if your doctor is not in office by today.
Wish fast recovery! Dr.Albana
