What Causes Abdominal Pain Along With Vomiting And Diarrhea?
Hi Dr My mother ws admitted n hospital on may 15th for severe abdomen pain vomittin nd diarrhoea nd ws found SMA thrombosis. .. so far no surgery or interventions done but recent CT oral contrast ultrasound scan nd MRI shows tat thrombosis hs been resolved wid sub mucosal edema nd inflammatory ileal segment s nw subsiding... nw heparin s stopped.. but her diarrhoea s nt stopped which is around 15 to 22 episodes fr 24hrs. .. my mother hs RHD history mitral valve operation 30yrs bk...can my mother take biflac hp tblt twice per day fr her diarrhoea nd small intestin. .. is it safe to tak dis tablet n dis condition. .. pls guide me sir..
It is safe to take these medications. This condition is serious and it may go in both directions. If there is a sign of bowel gangrene then emergent surgery is required.
If the condition is improving as you say then it may be treated with anticoagulants and supportive therapy. Of course, later this blockage of SMA should be treated, it can be done surgically or by an interventional radiologist.
