What Causes Abdominal Pain Along With Vomiting And Itchy Body Rashes?

What might cause severe abdominal pain with sudden vomiting and then developing severe itchy hives? The abdominal pain started first, then the next day, had a sudden episode of vomiting. A couple of hours later, I began to be itchy on my hands, then legs, abdomen, neck... breaking out in hives. I took 50 mg of Benadryl, but about an hour later, the itching was driving me nearly insane, then I began to have trouble breathing. I did not take any medications or eat any unusual foods that day. I had eaten very little in those 2 days, due to the stomach pain. How could these hives be related to the “stomach bug” type of symptoms?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.


For gastritis

1. Do not eat spicy food
2. Take medications for gastritis- pantop/omez/rantac
3. Take little food at frequent intervals. Breakfast around 8am, small snack at 11am, lunch at 1pm, small snack at 4pm and dinner at 8pm
4. Drink plenty of water
5. Do not smoke, take alcohol or tobacco and even excess of coffee and tea
6. Do not take much of stress. Stress aggravates gastritis
7. Do regular exercise. Atleast half an hour per day
8. Learn meditation techniques
9. Follow this regularly for 21 days. It is said that anything you practice regularly for 21 days becomes a habit

for allergic rash

Allergy can develop due to several reasons- some foods like egg, fish, pollen grains, animal hair, nylon, terylene clothes. Just try to find out what you are allergic to & avoid it. Try home remedies. Apply coconut oil daily three times a day for one week. If you are not better consult a dermatologist. It can be fungal infection or eczema. Regards- Dr Sanjay Kini
