Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. I ve started having intermittent abdominal pains and loose stools yesterday. I contributed it to eating cheesy potatoes on Sunday. I sometimes get lactose intolerant symptoms. I felt better today so I had one slice of pizza for lunch and some polenta with tomato sauce for dinner. I stared t having some pains again and just had another loose stool that was very dark green color The color of my stool is concerning to me. Could this indicate something serious?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood your concerns. Although you have Lactose intolerance, the green stools indicate an active intestinal infection causing you pain in abdomen and diarrhea. I would advise you the following in such a situation: Send the stool and blood samples for tests. Ultrasonography of the abdomen. Clinical evaluation by a Doctor. A course of an antibiotic, metronidazole and probiotics should give you the relief. Take only boiled and cooled water. Eat only homemade fresh food. Electrolyte solution for maintaining electrolyte balance. Plenty of water and fluids orally to avoid dehydration with its complications. Intravenous medications only if required.,
