What Causes Abdominal Pain And Nausea With A History Of Kidney Stones?
My husband is experiencing abdominal pain. He is a 48 year old male with a history of kidney stones. His gallbladder has been removed also his appendix. He takes high blood pressure meds., Prilosec daily and has seen a liver Dr. The doctor told him to take Vitamin E and watch his diet. He has lost 45lbs. in the past 2 years without trying. This is something that has just started the past couple of weeks. His symptoms are: waking up feeling nauseous. I may vomit, I may not. I have no energy and just feels like I have been sick. No appetite.
As there is no appetite, weight loss without attempts and lethargy, there can be various issues as chronic pyelonephritis of previous stone, pyrexia of unknown origin from chronic infection, anemia of chronic disease or else. He needs basic evaluation with:
- General parameters as blood pressure and vital systems of cardiovascular and respiration - Complete blood counts, serum creatinine, electrolytes, blood sugar - X-ray of the kidney, ureter and bladder - Ultrasound of the abdomen & pelvis
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
