What Causes Abdominal Pain And Vaginal Bleeding During Menopause?

I am in my 50s and have finished menopause but for the last 2 months I have been experiencing sharp abdominal pains in my right side followed by vaginal bleed and also I have the bleeding if I lift anything over 20 pounds. I can not get in to my dr for another month and a half. What could be causing this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The most common cause of postmenopausal bleeding are inflammation and thinning of the vaginal lining caused by lower oestrogen levels, cervical or uterine polyps, non cancerous growths and cancerous growths. I would suggest a per vaginal examination, Pap smear and pelvic ultrasound to identify the cause and for further management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
