Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It is normal to have light bleeding even after insertion of Mirena. But since you are having heavy bleeding along with cramping abdominal pain, then there is a chance that your IUD has been expelled out.
You should examine whether you can feel the IUD threads or not. If the bleeding continues, then get yourself checked by a gynecologist. She may also suggest an ultrasound to rule out other causes of bleeding like fibroids.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Nazma.Amman
