Thanks for contacting with your health query
1. If you feel that symptoms are severe immediately go to ER [emergency Room] since it has to be treated in hospital with injectables [fluids and antibiotics] to prevent complications and to give rest to the bowel and also it is not always a recurrent attack of
diverticulitis but sometimes Irritable Bowel Syndrome/
Urinary Tract infection can also mimic the condition
PS. Do not start with any medicine without first consulting with your attending Physician since it may mask any underlying pathology of unknown origin
2. However you are more likely to have an attack of diverticulitis if eating a low fibre diet and using NSAIDs [non steroidal drugs like aspirin] continuously, and it is not uncommon to have
bloating, gas, chills and stomach pain which can be caused by eating certain foods or due to
stress so a watchful waiting is necessary accompanied with
home remedies but if home treatment does not help and/or symptoms worsens see a doctor and if he thinks further tests are needed and your symptoms are not responding to medical treatment or if surgery is necessary he may refer you to a Surgeon or Gastroenterologist.
