What Causes Abdominal Pain, Constipation And Excessive Sweating?

Hello, I am writing on behalf of a young woman who has suspected undiagnosed Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, POTS, fibromyalgia, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome and many associated problems. She has major digestive problems - pain, constipation - and recently has noticed her stools have undigested food in them. Over the last few days she has been feeling a strain in her right side, increased when urinates or eats, tonight experiencing alot of pain, feeling feverish, intensely cold and now sweating, a hardness/swelling in that area.Can you advise what this might indicate and what action she should take?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Hope she is continuing with the medications prescribed to her by her treating doctor. Presently, it looks like she is having some liver dysfunction. She needs to visit ER as she has other medical problems too. Let her get examined, she should have CBC, R/E & C/S urine, USG to rule out any enlargement of her liver. She may need to go through some more investigations depending upon the reports of the investigations.

Give her boiled food restrict oily spicy food, give plenty of water, juice & re- hydrating fluids (ORS). At present you can give her Pantoprazol-40 once daily for relieve, liver tonic & vitamin supplements. Give her light food in small quarters. Visit ER at the earliest & get her treated before the worsening of her symptoms.
