What Causes Abdominal Pain For A Long Time?

Hi, I m a 5 4, 170 lb female. I ve had upper abdominal pains for 5 days already. On a scale of 1-10, the pain is at a 6.5. At times, the pain would subside but then it comes back and the pain lasts for 15-20 even 30 minutes. What should I do? I always feel like I want to go to the bathroom but I m not able to have bowel movement. At times my stool is normal and then sometimes it s watery. My abdomen hurts even more when I lie down or I sit down.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have abdominal pain for a long time. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like constipation , diarrhea , gastroenteritis , acid reflux , kidney infection or stress. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may order certain test like ultrasound , stool test and take history to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe ornidazole , laxative , omeprazole or albendazole . Doctor may also refer you to nephrologist for kidney problem . For now eat light and non spicy , eat small and frequent meals and take light walk after every meal .
