Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
So my daughter is 4 and a half years old. She is in the 65-85% in height and weight. And no other medical problems other than seasonal allergies. She was been complaining on her “tummy hurting” for over a month now! It’s not every day or at any certain time. It can last from 10 minutes to an hour or two. It worse at times but no specific times and doesn’t happen right after eating. She is not constipated (this girl poops every time she eats) mostly formed and occasional diarrhea but she’s been like that all her time.. She describes it at it feels like “she is getting SHOTS in her stomach” around her belly button but never specifically her belly button if that makes sense... She finally said she wanted to go to the dr and has asked the last 3 times she’s had the pain when she was going to the DR so he could fix her... I made an appointment for Thursday and I just wanna make sure I have all the data to give the DR and what to watch for or what it could possibly be!! I know kids are hard because they have a hard time saying exactly what’s going on... Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!! -also no new foods or anything like that!!
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I think your doctor should consider doing her a feces analysis, coproculture to see for parasites. Parasites are one of the causes of abdominal pain in kids that also cause impairment growth. The treatment consists of anti-parasitic.
Take care.
Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help you.
Best regards.
