What Causes Abdominal Pain, Loss Of Appetite And Night Sweats While Having Diverticulitis?

My husband has diverticulitis and is scheduled for surgery in 2 weeks. Hes been experiencing belly pain, loss of appetite, night sweats and he s lethargic. Wondering if this could be a complication or his condition getting worse. Should I get him to the ER?
