What Causes Abdominal Pain On The Left Side Along With Stomach Distention?

I had removal of lap band surgery on July 07, 2016 because of slippage. I have had pain on the left side of my stomach (were the band was originally). Dr. advised me that he took the saline out of the band and attempted to move it to correct it but did not succeed so the band was removed. He also advised that he had to adjust my stomach because it was formed from the lap band. I have been feeling a constant pain on the left side that doesn t go away (sitting, standing, laying down). I have stomach swelling, tenderness and that constant ache, sharpness that doesn t go away.

Hi,

Noted your history about removal of lap band, constant pain on left side of the abdomen, there is stomach swelling and tenderness too. All the history is suggestive of a possibility of an abdominal collection. This can be best diagnosed by the following ways:
Preliminary Ultrasonography of abdomen and CT scan to confirm.
You may need a course of an antibiotic, symptomatic and supportive treatment in a hospital.
If the conservative treatment fails and if there is any collection you may need drainage or surgery.

Consult at ER or your Operating Surgeon for further clinical evaluation, investigations and proper management.
