Hi dear. Thank you for trusting HealthCareMagic. I have gone through your questions and understood your query.

As the symptoms you mentioned above, they direct us to the symptoms we call dyspepsia, the uncomfortable feeling in upper abdomen especially after eating. It can be bloating, heartburn, or even nausea and reflux. Dyspepsia may cause by some diseases such as peptic ulcer (can be gastric or duodenal), gastritis, GERD (gastroesofageal reflux disease), or the intestinal infection caused by bacteria or anything else.
Doctora would do physical examination to approach the differential diagnosis and if needed they will ask endoscopy to make sure the diagnosis.

You have consumed Pepto bismol that contains bismuth salycilate, which works as anti inflammatory and anti secretory. Even if Pepto bismol is over the counter drugs that you can get it easily, it's better for you to check or consult your condition to your doctor. To b caution, you can't use this drug more than 48 hour and stop it if bleeding happens.

If I were your treating doctor, in your condition I will give you anti ulcer agents, it may be from class proton pump inhibitor, such as Lansoprazole or Omeprazole once daily, to reduce the secretion of acid that can cause pain in epigastric and also left stomach. Use it before meals.

There's some suggestions you have to be aware if you have dyspepsia, such as:
1. Eat in small portion but more frequent, it's called small frequently feeding. It helps our intestines not working so hard. Do not eat right before bedtime. Wait a while after eating before you lay down.
2. Avoid eat spicy food since it can trigger acid, avoid coffee, alcohol and smoking cause it can worsen the symptoms.
3. Avoid using anti inflammatory for pain continuously.
4. Keep healthy lifestyle, do exercises, reduce stress, and good dietary.

I hope these can be helpful and you will get better soon. If there's anything else you want to discuss, feel free to ask me in HealthCareMagic.

Regards,
dr. Asti Yuliadha
