Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have woke up with excruciating pain in my abdomen - central area under rib cage. I am not one for going to doctors and can t recall last time I went, but feel that something is not right and the pain was unbearable and is still now painful and wondered if I need to go to doctors/ hospital
You can have following causes as per history and location of pain.
- gastritis - peptic ulcer - gall stone induce pain - pancreas problem like inflammation
Your USG abdomen scan should be done and CBC done for primary work up if pancreas inflammation is present then serum amylase and lipase estimation is needed, otherwise not. For simple gastritis or peptic ulcer pantoprazole tablet course is needed for two weeks. Avoid excess tea, coffee, smoking, stress (because these are gastric irritants). Eat more fruits. Consult a physician for examination with keeping my answer in mind.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Parth Goswami
