What Causes Abdominal Pain With Bruise Over Kidney And Acid Smelling Urine?

My daughter went to the ER a few days ago for what she thought was a kidney infection. They did a MRI they thought she may have had kidney stones . After the test she was told she may have passed them. They sent her home with only pain mess .Today she noticed a large bruise over her kidney and her Irvine smells like acid. She drinks plenty of water never drinks soft drinks and even have been taking cranberry pills. She s 19 years of age and is excellent health condition . She takes probiotics daily . Should she return to ER??

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Possible causes like urinary tract infection must be ruled out. Go for a urine routine and ultrasound scan to make a diagnosis. Most cases respond well to antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
