What Causes Abdominal Pain With Calcium Deposits On The Pancreas?
I have a history of Severe Gastritis and IBS. I recently had an an abdomen ultra sound that showed calcium deposits on the pancreas and swollen veins. I continue to have regular pain on the upper left side of my abdomen. I the radiologist has recommended a CT scan. I do not drink and everything I read points to that as the issue with the Pancreas. Is there another explanation?
Resepcted user, hi I evaluated your query thoroughly. *There is definate need of CT abdomen according to your radiologist. *Pancreatic calcification is not only seen in alcoholics, there are various other reasons for Chronic Pancreatitis which will lead to calcium deposits in pancreas. - gall bladder stones - infections - some medications - trauma / surgery to the abdomen - blood vessel disease - elevated calcium levels - genetic mutations - extremely high triglyceride levels. - almost 5-6% of patients fulfilling Rome II criteria for IBS have Pancreatic exocrine insufficiency Hope this clears your query. Thanks for using Health Care Magic & keeping trust in our medical services. Wishing you fine recovery from the same. Regards dear take care.
