Hi,
Gastrojejunostomy is a surgery where stomach is directly diverted to the
small intestine. A lot of physiological changes happen with the surgery. One problem is that when you have food, a lot of food which would had been digested in the stomach, just comes into jejunum and it is concentrated and so, a lot of water come from the body to dilute it. When a lot of fluid comes into the small intestine, the movements of the intestines increase and that may be one reason for some episodes of
diarrhea.
Next thing is because whole of the food is now partially digested when it reaches the large intestine, it gets fermented and that may cause
bloating, diarrhea, or even sometimes
constipation. If the food load coming to large intestine is having high content of undigested food, then in that case, the bacteria which are present increase in numbers and may cause intestinal infections as well. So, fever can happen. So, more or less, the symptoms described by you are because of the gastrojejunostomy.
But management is possible. For now, you should be taking empirical treatment with a combi-drug of
Ciprofloxacin and
Metronidazole for 5 days. Next is the dietary modification. The food should be taken in form of small meals. Like you should be splitting your major meals into 2 to 3 parts and take it at a difference of half an hour to one hour apart. Also, you need to see the surgeon for the follow up with the problem you are having.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Manish Kumar Gupta, General Surgeon
