Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Abnormal Hair Growth On Body While On Birth Control Pills?
I have pcos and I was told that means you have higher testosterone levels than an average female. I was prescribed birth control to help regulate my period. I haven t been taking my medicine and I ve noticed hair growing in irregular places such as face, chest, ect... If I start taking my birth control again will the hair fall out?
This abnormal hair growth is called hirsuitism and it is one of the most common symptoms/signs in PCOS. Though the current hair is not likely to drop out, the use of appropriate medications may prevent future or other hair from growing in these areas.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
