Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 36 year old female recently diagnosed with a fib. Was hospitalized two weeks ago (only overnight) heart rate was 195 when I went to ER, took 10 hours to reduce to normal, also irregular heartbeat. Was put on Sotalol 5 days ago. Irregular beats getting more frequent and intense especially today. Checked pulse with blood pressure monitor read 144/78. Went to a drugstore to use their machine it read 148/87. Am not sure whether this is bad but not feeling altogether comfortable with frequency of irregular beating. Should I go to ER or wait til Monday to call cardiologist?
Atrial fibrillation is a condition where there will be an irregular rhythm observed.
To control it, kindly follow your cardiologist’s advice regarding the medications. You mentioned you are on medication, so continue the medicine without changing the dose.
If you feel anxious about it, there is no harm going to ER. Make an appointment with your cardiologist as well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
