Hello,
Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic!
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.
As your age is considered
nipple discharge is either normal or it could be due to some minor conditions. But we have to rule out some other diseases before making a definite diagnosis.
You don't need to worry regarding this because it is quite common in early twenties and is due to hormonal changes.Abnormal breast discharge is also seen in thyroid diseases and with use of some anti psychotic medicines.Very rarely some
pituitary tumors like "prolactinoma" may also cause similar symptoms.
I suggest you to
consult a general surgeon and get the following things done:
1.A detailed physical examination to rule out any palpable lumps.
2.Analysis of fluid discharged from the nipple.
3.Basic blood investigations and TFT(Thyroid Function Test)
4.Prolactin assay to rule out prolactinoma.
5.
Mammography,
ultrasound or both to look for a lump.
6.Finally a urine pregnancy test.
Depending upon the initial evaluation you may require additional investigations which might include a CT scan or a FNAC(Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology) as advised by your surgeon.
In most cases it will resolve by its own or by some hormonal medicines. The need of surgical intervention is very rare.
Hope this information helps you.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
