What Causes Abnormal Periods And Brown Vaginal Discharge?

I m a 19 and I m fairly healthy. I recently had a really abnormal period. It started with a regular light brown discharge that moved on to my period this was normal. The abnormal part is what I m experiencing currently where at the end of my period I had light spotting and it s been two weeks now and I m still spotting. A couple days earlier the spotting stopped but now it started up again. Through the whole ordeal I didn t feel any pain or discomfort of any kind. I have made an appointment with a professional but the appointment was a whole month in advance since they were completely booked. I just want to know what is going on. Please help!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
There is no need to panic now. It could be due to various reasons. It can even be due to stress. And it could also be due to thyroid dysfunction. You can wait for one period to observe if the spotting is recurring. In the meantime, eat a lot fruits, vegetables and start some light physical exercise. If the spotting repeats, then get your thyroid, blood counts checked. If the spotting is a problem even now and you don't want to wait, you can take any progesterone based drugs after consulting a family physician. There is no absolute necessity for a gynecology consultation.
Thank you.
