What Causes Abnormal Uterine Bleeding When Diagnosed With Vitamin D Deficiency?

I am a 43 years old woman. Who has not had a regular period since September of this year. I have been only spotting with mild cramps. I just had a blood test and they said I had a vitamin d deficiency & a prediabetic. I have been spotting on and off since Sept 26th. Should I contact my doctor? I am worried.

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Vitamin D low levels are observed to cause irregular periods by affecting & development of ovum & regularity of periods. Vitamin D supplementation sets the periods regular.
Diabetes also facilitates ovarian function via insulin resistance... thus causing PCOD & irregular periods.
* You therefore need Vitamin D supplement along with low caloric diet/ exercises & needful medicines if/ as advised by a diabetologist.
Thanks.
