What Causes Abnormal Vaginal Bleeding While On Nexplanon Implant?

I have had 8 pregnancies. I have 5 kids and lost four . I have had some std issues before. I ve only had one partner ever in my whole life he wasn t taking care of himself but I ve gotten my shots and medication for it. I found out in 2008 when I lost and had to bury my second child that I had genital herpes. They say it s in my bloodstream I don t have breakouts. I now have nexplanon implanted in my arm for birth control. It s due to come out March 2017. I am concerned because I am having vaginal bleeding issues. Sometimes I bleed for two week then stop for maybe a week then start bleeding again for another week. Then sometimes I bleed for a couple of days and then don t bleed for like two weeks then bleed for a week after that. I have discharge when I m not bleeding and an odor. I have been to a Dr for my odor and discharge but they said everything came back fine. I m trying to get a second opinion because I m really worried.

I have read your description and understand your concern.
Disturbances in menstrual cycles like abnormal bleeding or spotting is one of the common side effects experienced by many women when they are on implants like Nexplanon. However, such bleeding issues should stabilize during the first few months after the implant.
In case it is bothersome, it would be better to review the mode of contraception on consulting with your Gynecologist and adopt to the one which would suit you better.
