Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi there, yesterday I started bleeding. I thought I was getting my period earlier.. 10-15 days earlier which was confusing. It was very little and not as red as it usually is. I am still not bleeding much today. Very little, watery, pinkish. And now I am getting this sharp pain in my uterus mostly on my left side but both sides really whenever I cough or laugh. I am wondering if I should be concerned about this or if it is normal. Please help!
Hello and welcome to HCM, Pain in the lower abdomen associated with vaginal bleeding is abnormal uterine bleeding. There are many causes for abnormal uterine bleeding. A couple of investigations are required for correct diagnosis. Firstly you need to consult your gynaecologist for clinical assessment and an abdominal ultrasound. Fibroids in the uterus can cause pain and abnormal bleeding. Hormonal imbalance can also cause abnormal uterine bleeding. Management can be planned after clinical assessment, relevant investigations and diagnosis.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
