General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history about your husband having weight gain of 20 lbs, given Lasix for diuresis, undergoing cardiac testing and the stomach is getting larger.
Your history is self-explanatory wherein the possible causes are:
Cardiac failure.
Kidney problem.
Liver cirrhosis causing ascites and fullness of stomach.
Anemia.
Hypoproteinemia and so on.
This can be diagnosed by the following ways:
Detailed history, clinical evaluation and an actual physical examination.
All the above causes mentioned have to be seen for by doing relevant tests of blood, urine, stool,.
Ultrasonography of abdomen.
X-ray Chest.
Detailed kidney, liver and cardiac tests.
The treatment will be obviously as per the findings and final diagnosis thus made.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
