Hi,

I am sorry to inform you that the absence of fetal heartbeat during the first trimester of pregnancy can be concerning, as it may indicate a potential miscarriage or a non-viable pregnancy. However, there are a few possibilities to consider before making any conclusions.

In some cases, the fetal heartbeat may not be detected during the first-trimester ultrasound due to the gestational age being earlier than expected. This could be due to incorrect timing of ovulation or miscalculation of the last menstrual period (LMP). Based on your LMP and the gestational age of the fetus, you may have ovulated later than expected, which could explain why the fetal heartbeat is not yet detected.

Another possibility is that the ultrasound was not performed correctly, and the fetal heartbeat may be present but was not detected. This is less likely if the ultrasound was performed by a skilled and experienced sonographer or obstetrician.

However, if the absence of fetal heartbeat is confirmed by subsequent ultrasounds, it may indicate a non-viable pregnancy or a miscarriage. A non-viable pregnancy means that the embryo has stopped developing, and the body will eventually expel the pregnancy tissues. A miscarriage is the spontaneous loss of pregnancy before the 20th week of gestation. In either case, it is essential to discuss the results with your healthcare provider, who can provide you with the appropriate support and guidance.

In conclusion, the absence of fetal heartbeat during the first trimester of pregnancy can be concerning, and it is important to discuss the results with your healthcare provider to determine the next steps.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
