Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Accumulation Of Fluid In The Macular Region?
My wife was previously diagnosed with AMD however after having to change doctors, the new doctor has concluded AMD is not the issue but she does have fluid in her macular region, and he has told her to stop taking caffine of any sort, he gave here a new diagnosis, something like central serus, not can you advise.
Very likely the doctor diagnosed her with central serous retinopathy. This consists of water building beneath the retina and distorting the vision. Generally, it does fade in a couple of months and the vision comes back to the norm. The doctor will need to regularly examine her in the next few weeks to make sure she is improving. If she is not improving then laser treatment or photodynamic therapy may be indicated.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
