Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For the past 2 months I ve been experiencing a lot of phlegm in my throat. When I try to cough it up, nothing happens. I have no sneezing, runny nose or any other symptoms of a common cold, just phlegm. To add onto that, about 2 weeks ago I started experiencing head pressure during the night, which wakes me up. I can only sleep if my head is not touching anything. I have no idea if these issues are related and I d really like some help. I ve done a CT scan for the headaches at night, which revealed nothing.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of accumulation of phlegm in throat which seems to be due to viral infection to your body. It could be due to upper respiratory tract infection as well. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start with anti-inflammatory medication such as Levocetirizine. You should take Tylenol for fever as well. You should do warm saline gargles and take throat lozenges as well. Avoid intake of outside food. Do tepid sponging if fever is increasing. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and get blood tests done. Start treatment after proper prescription and diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe antiviral/ antibacterial medications. Avoid cold liquids. Sip on warm water.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
