What Causes Ache In Upper Abdomen?

I have a mild ach in the upper part of m stomach. I have had this for over a month. It is right below my ribs in the center. I have taken aleve which has helped but I know my body and I feel something may be wrong. I am a female and 72 yrs. old. I am in good health. The ach makes me feel hungry and I eat a cracker and peanut butter and it seems to lessen the ach but it doesn t go away.

Dear welcome to HCM and thanks for choosing us.

Your symptoms description suggests that you have stomach ulcers. Midline pain, which is relived by food intake, reappear after few hours of meals is characteristics of stomach ulcers. I see good number of patients with these symptoms and I prescribe them following
1 antacids tablets (rantac or omeperzole)
2 take bland diet (less spicy)
3 antacid solutions (digene)
Generally patients recover in one to two weeks. You can request your doctor above mentioned treatment and you will be fine in 10 to 15 days. If there is no relief you need to visit a gastroenterologist for detailed investigations like endoscopy and then take treatment.

I hope my reply will benefit you. Please write to hcm or me for follow up queries. I wish you rapid recovery. Hit a thanks. Regards
