What Causes Acid Reflux And Constipation After Taking Advil?

I fell on a cocrete porch a week ago. That evening after the fall I had sharp pain between my shoulder blades. Took some Advil, got a little better. Pain came back next night. Hurt to swallow food. Drinking water is fine. Not on meds on a daily basis.Went to emergency room on 3rd day. They said could be acid reflux. Went to my GP same day. She thought might have pulled muscle from fall. Taking muscle relaxer at bedtime. Take anti-inflamatory 2 times a day and taking acid reducer. Nothing seems to help much. Still have pain after eating. Decided to try Miralax since meds are making me constipated. Any idea on what might be going on?

Hello,

I think it would be a good idea to have the antacids. From your message, I am unaware which antacid you are taking.

However, I would suggest taking Pantoprazole 40 mg twice daily prior to food. With this, I will suggest the use of Sucralfate 3 tsp 4 times daily.

Having said that I would recommend testing an ultrasound of the abdomen, amylase, lipase to rule out any other gastrointestinal causes of pain in stomach after eating food.

I am assuming that you are not having pain in stomach other than after eating food. Meeting a gastroenterologist might be a good idea.
