Hi.i am a 24 year old girl.last year I was diagnosed with acute erosive gastritis. I had traces of blood in my puke. I went through a proper spiceless diet to help me recover which I did. So I want to know if I can start having the normal diet I used to have before the treatment. Can the symptoms come back?is erosive gastritis curable? Thank u in advance
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Erosive gastritis is generally caused due to infection of gastric mucosa by an organism called H.Pylori. It would be better to confirm the diagnosis by endoscopy and urease test done with gastric mucosal biopsy. Once confirmed, it can be controlled well by taking a course of treatment to eradicate H.pylori organism. It would include Two antibiotics like Amoxacillin and Clarithromycin with a proton pump inhibitor like Omeprazole or Lanzoprazole, to be taken for 7 to 14 days, depending on the severity. This could effectively cure and control erosive gastritis. Also, it would be advisable to avoid spicy diet and gastric irritant foods even after treatment is complete to be on the safer side. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
