What Causes Acute Pain At Night Under Right Rib Cage?
Hello I had one kidney stone episode 4 years ago. I drink tons of water and take cranberry supplements. I felt chills no fever nausea and severe Burning sensation under right rib cage was her the weekend. Strong smell to urine Went to urgent care after pain turned from burning to acute. Tests and in UTI mild fluid retention in kidneys and a small mid pole stone right side. I am on Cipro as of today.had cat scan this evening. Question is why is my pain acute at night if the stone is not moving? I dry heave feel awful and at times times pain unbearable ( at night)
Pain from kidney stones usually starts either late at night or early in the morning. This is because people generally urinate less frequently at night or in the early morning, and the ureter is usually constricted during the night and in the morning.
For the pain I recommend ibuprofene 4 times a day after meals.
All the best, Dr. Eni
