What Causes Acute Pain In Chest, Shoulder, Neck And Back?

My daughter (age 18) recently went to the er with chest pain. She was diagnosed with costochondritis. She was told to take pain meds (motrin) to relieve pain. It didn t really work, but symptoms seemed to improve after a week of no physical activity. Her home care instructions said to watch for symptoms of change in pain, such as pain spreading to shoulder, neck and back as it could be a sign of a more serious condition. She currently is feeling acute pain not only in her chest but in these areas, but I don t know what the more serious condition the er doctor was referring to. Can you tell me what the more serioys condition the er doctor may have been referring to? Not sure if I should take her back to the er. Thank you.

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hi,

It is due to inflammation and is called Teitze syndrome. Don’t worry, it will go away with medicines.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshita, Ophthalmologist
