What Causes Acute Pain In Toe Joint And Ball Of Foot?
I dropped a 40 pound weight on my foot several years ago at work, it hit on the big toe joint and had a hairline fracture that I was treated for. I am experiencing mild to acute pain in that same joint off and on while walking, or any other activity. also the ball of my foot hurts severely if I try to run or jump.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have acute pain in toe joint and ball of foot. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like metatarsalgia or Capsulitis . Most often the pain is caused by nerve damage or by an abnormality of the joints nearest the balls of the feet. I would suggest you to consult podiatrist for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan or x-ray . Doctor may prescribe injection of alcohol , muscle relaxant and orthotic devices . Doctor may ask you to wear proper shoe and recommend surgery in severe damage .
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
