I understand your concern.
Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy condition can be managed conservatively and surgically.
Initially, when the hypertrophy is small and is not causing any other symptoms related to urination, it is easy to manage conservatively through medications, like the ones you were taking.
But once the complications like retention of urine acutely or other symptoms sets in due to narrowing of
urethra caused due to hypertrophy of
prostate, it needs to be attended by means of surgery.
Acute retention of urine can be managed by cathterization temporarily.
You need to plan for surgery - 'Trans Urethral Resection of Prostate' (TURP) at the earliest to overcome such complications.
