Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi.. I've just been diagnosed with adenomysis...I am 43 years old. I had compounded hormone replacement last year, then in July this year, went over to pellets. Worst desicion I've ever made. I have gained 12 lbs in a very short period of time and I'm in severe pain. Research shows options, but states removal of uterus to be the only sure thing. I'm not having any more children. What's your advise?
Ma'am, Adenomyosis occurs when the normal uterine lining of the cavity grows into the muscular tissue of the uterus. It is a condition which is related to unopposed action of excess of oestrogen in our body, which causes enlargement of the uterus aand leads to severe pain during menstruation and excessive bleeding. The definitive cure for this condition is without doubt ,Hysterectomy or removal of uterus.other metods of treatment would be conservative in the form of NSAIDS(pain killers) and oral contraceptive pills to prevent the bleeding.Bt since you have already completed your family,it would be advisable to go ahead with the surgical option as it would give you a permanent cure. regards, Dr.Radhika
