Hi,
Soma contains
carisoprodol which belongs to the group of medications known as muscle relaxants is used in the relaxing of certain muscles in the body and relieving the discomfort caused by painful muscles. Soma acts as a skeletal muscle relaxant that acts on
central nervous system (CNS) for relaxing muscles. Adverse effects of Sona are nausea, vomiting, headache, sweating, dizziness, drowsiness, convulsions, agitation,
hallucinations, fever, nervousness, anxiety, tremor, irritability,
blurred vision,
double vision, dry mouth, heartburn, sleepiness, upset stomach, hiccups,
hypotension or low blood pressure, fast heartbeat, allergic reactions etc.
Soma is used only for short duration. Because, long term use of this medication may develop dependence and is associated with
withdrawal symptoms. First withdrawal symptoms start after 12-24 hours from the last dose of Soma. Withdrawal symptoms might include muscle twitching, insomnia, sweating, ataxia, nausea, vomiting, tremors, mood swings, depression, delusions, seizures etc.
Other muscle relaxants are also available to replace Soma. But, to avoid the withdrawal symptoms, you should stop taking this medication gradually under the supervision of your doctor and after stopping this medication, your doctor may choose another type of muscle relaxant if needed.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
