Hi I had my gallbladder removed in January and have been experiencing pain very similar to gallbladder attacks. Had an ultrasound scan yesterday which showed what the dr thought was a stone in the common bile duct and air??? What does the air mean he also said the stone showed as a shadow what is this?
Hello. The air in the common duct is not normal and it may be from incompetence of the sphincter of Oddi at the junction between the common duct and the small intestine. It may be because there is a stone stuck there and the next step would be ERCP--putting a scope down beyond your stomach and into the common duct to remove the stone.
